How Long Do Appliances Really Last? (By Type)
Every appliance has an expected lifespan, and knowing it is the difference between "why is this thing breaking?" and "ah, right, it’s fourteen."

Three things jump out of that table.
The simplest machines last longest. A chest freezer is a compressor, a coil, and a box of insulation. There’s almost nothing to fail, and they routinely run 20 years. A gas range is mechanically simple too, which is why it outlives an electric one.
The most complex ones die first. A dishwasher has a pump, a motor, heaters, sensors, and a control board, all sitting in hot water.
